Pete Jr., ‘PJ’ Jonna brings his technical skills, entrepreneurial drive, and passion for client relations to the company. He joined the company in 2014 as a Junior Estimator and oversees business development as well as job site supervision, project management, and project engineering. Before joining Jonna Construction, PJ was working for demolition and carpentry companies as young as 15 years old. PJ is currently working towards a degree from Wayne State University School of Engineering with a specialization in Construction Management.
With his sights set on joining the family company, PJ designed his career path to fit and exceed the Jonna standard. In 1976, Pete began as a superintendent and has since held highly technical and managerial positions within the company. Pete assigns personnel to each project, awards subcontractor and supplier contracts, and reviews and approves all project bids. Pete is extremely dedicated to maintaining safe and harmonious work environments for everyone involved in his current projects, along with ensuring satisfaction and quality control for a diverse and sophisticated clientele.
Joey Jonna’s enthusiasm for real estate, construction, and development dates back to his family roots at Jonna Construction. His Uncle Jimmy Jonna’s fearless passion for dealmaking, along with his father Frank Jonna’s quiet intensity and outstanding people skills illuminated Joey’s path into the industry.
Joey started in the industry at age 14 as a general laborer, learning the Jonna work ethic pushing a broom, and cleaning up trash on job sites. After graduating from Michigan State, Joey served as the Chief Estimator at Jonna Companies for seven years and was involved in numerous commercial projects. In 2008, Joey founded Jonna Facility Services with the objective to fill the need for companies looking to keep their overhead low and focus on their core business by outsourcing maintenance services.
Joey made his foray into the residential development world when he founded Jonna Luxury Homes in 2012 with a mission to provide high-quality new construction homes in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills. Jonna Luxury Homes developed and built spec homes, as well as custom homes with an inclusive approach, focused on customer relationships.
In late 2019, Joey returned to Jonna Construction as partner and CEO to lead a transition and guide Jonna Construction into the future. Strong core values and an ability to generate value through multiple channels are the foundation of his leadership style.
